Acai berry, a purple fruit found on the Brazilian Acai palm tree, is one of the latest additions to the “superfood” family. It has a unique texture and flavour, boasts omega fats, is a brilliant source of vitamins and minerals, is high in fibre, vegan, gluten- free and truly amazing. It has the most intense purple colour thanks to the purple pigment known as anthocyanins, which help to keep antioxidant levels in foods, but also in your body after you have eaten. I got mine from BodyMe at the Yoga Show. I was very lucky to be given one pack of their Acai berry powder and after trying it I have officially fallen in love with it!

Acai Berry Bowl Recipe
I think you get my love for Acai, so let’s move to the next ingredients for my Acai berry bowl recipe which is coconut water. Get the purest you possibly can, the best one is from Young Thai Coconuts which surprisingly can be bought in Asda. Alternatively you can get any shop bought coconut water as long as there is nothing added. Coconut water is the greatest natural energy drink…there is no need for Lucozade or Gatorade, coconut water has it all and even more! Low in fat, calories and sugars, it hydrates your body, boosts your immune system, speeds up your metabolism, helps to cleanse your body of toxins and aids digestion. Now imagine when you combine acai and coconut water together, geddit? Last but not least add the benefits of bananas and berries to this bowl of goodness and the magic cure is made. This acai berry bowl will help you to combat any hangover or headache, will get you back on your feet, feel energized, hydrated and ready for anything that the day has in store for you
- 1 heaped tbsp BodyMe Acai Berry Powder
- 1/2 cup berries (fresh or frozen, both fine)
- 1 cup coconut water (make sure it is 100% pure coconut water)
- 1 frozen banana, sliced
- Toppings; whatever you fancy but I love desiccated coconut, puffed quinoa, chia seeds.
- Pop everything in your blender and process until smooth.
- Top up with your favourite toppings and devour immediately
This Acai berry bowl recipe serves 1 person, but sometimes even this might not be enough. There have been occasions where I had to have 2 bowls……No I wasn’t hungover, I actually drink very rarely, I just simply couldn’t get enough!
