It’s almost Christmas so my whole family is getting very excited about the extra treats and presents that will be coming their way very soon. I know myself how easy it is to get carried away when you’re surrounded by festive goodies at home and in the office, and everyone encourages you to ‘treat yourself’ throughout the day.
Going out for Christmas drinks or opening a bottle at home is another easy habit to slip into, and again, we often treat ourselves to more exciting drinks like Christmas cocktails to celebrate the party season. I would be the first to say that I love the fruity flavours in cocktails (pina colada somewhere on the beach is my favourite) but all that sugar and alcohol combined means I start giving in to cravings for foods I don’t usually eat, which doesn’t make me feel very good the next day! I don’t want to miss out though so I was really excited to hear from Feel Good Drinks who offered to send me some bottles and their tasty new mocktail menu and take a part in their latest #SpreadFeelGoodness campaign, which is all about partying but still being health conscious.
The best thing about these is that the whole family can enjoy them together. I know my Sofia feels very grown up when she is holding her special drink just like mummy! We had a look at the menu together and she helped me choose which ones to try out.
The first one was The Marvellous Mojito which was 275ml of bubbly Cranberry and Lime Feel Good poured into a glass, half a lime squeezed on top, mint sprigs and decorated with raspberries. It was a beautiful colour as you can see and the raspberries gave it that little extra twist. The cranberry flavour instantly shouts “Christmas” so this one would be great for adults and children during Christmas lunch.
The Marvellous Mojito
275 mls Cranberry and Lime Feel Good
2 sprigs of mint
2 quarters of lime or lemon
3 raspberries
Put the mint and raspberries into a glass or jar and pour over the Cranberry and Lime .
Squeeze the 2 quarters of lime over the drink and decorate with lime slices and extra raspberries.
The second one was the hand warmer as we had been out for a lovely family walk and were all definitely feeling chilly afterwards. It was really easy to make by pouring the still Cranberry and Pomegranate Feel Good into a pan, then add a freshly squeezed half an orange and 2 cinnamon sticks. Just let it heat gently until hot enough to drink.
Once it was ready, we all wrapped our hands around our mugs, defrosted our fingers and enjoyed breathing in the smell of Christmas! The warm, fruity blend tasted so good after an hour outside, and it made a lovely change from your usual tea or coffee.
The Hand Warmer
275ml Cranberry and Pomegranate Feel Good
Squeeze of half an orange
2 cinnamon sticks
Slice of orange to decorate
Add the Cranberry and Pomegranate Feel Good, the juice of half an orange and the cinnamon sticks to a saucepan and bring to the boil on a low heat.
Once the mixture has simmered to a low heat, pour into a glass, add some more cinnamon and decorate with slice of orange. I hope you like the clean eating mocktails I’ve made so far? As there are so many Feel Good flavours to try, I can’t wait to keep experimenting with the other ones. These drinks are perfect for parties, birthdays or as something fun for the kids when the grown-ups have their ‘special drinks’ 😉 If you have a go at making some yourself, use #SpreadFeelGoodness so we can see them too!
