Chia pudding and chocolate overnight oats

Published: Aug 28, 2014 · Modified: Dec 8, 2014 by Hedi Hearts · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 2 Comments

Last night I had a sweet tooth, well to be honest I have a sweet tooth almost everyday, but last night was extra special sweet tooth, but decided to be strong, resist, took chewing gum and made breakfast for this morning.  Chia pudding and chocolate overnight oats. Yum! I am a huge fan of chia seeds, not only because I am a runner and after reading the Born to be run book I have become obsessed with them, but because I love the gel texture when you mix them with liquid. Chia seeds are gluten-free and contain calcium, manganese, phosphorus, antioxidants, fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. You can add chia seeds to your diet by using them in a variety of dishes; they are even an excellent egg substitute. Chia seeds offers health benefits such as lowering high blood sugar levels, boosting your metabolism, preventing hypertension, maintaining a healthy weight, protection from certain types of cancer, aging and free radicals, regulating bowel function, reducing high cholesterol and helping to reduce inflammation throughout the body.Chia overnight oats

Another ingredients which you will need to create this breakfast beauty is raw cacao. Raw Cacao is filled with antioxidants, oxalic acid, theobromine, anandamide, phenylethylamine, iron, fiber, magnesium, and flavonoids. When consuming raw cacao on a regular basis, you will receive health benefits including the ability to produce regular bowel movements, maintain blood glucose levels and low blood pressure. Raw Cacao also helps to prevent heart attack and stroke. Ok, enough of me talking, here is the recipe:
Chia pudding and chocolate overnight oats:
    Chia pudding:
2- 3  tbsp of chia seeds
1 cup of almond milk or any of your favourite milk
    Splash of vanilla extract
    Pinch of cinnamon
Mix all ingredients and put in the fridge. After 15 min stir well and leave to set overnight.
    Chocolate overnight oats:
    3 tbsp of oats
    ½ cup of almond milk
    1 tbsp of raw cacao
1 tbsp of brown rice syrup
Mix all ingredients well and put in the fridge to set overnight.  In the morning get a nice jar fill half with chocolate oats and half with chia. Decorate with favourite nuts or dried fruit. Enjoy loads and loads .Light yet super powerful breakfast!
    Much love,
    Hedi
