Almond milk is my main and also favourite ingredient for all my smoothies and shakes, but also in baking and cooking. When I have time I like to make my own milk as I know exactly what goes in, can make it thicker than the usual shop bought versions and create different flavours.
There is no shame in buying it in the shop though, just always look out for unsweetened almond milk and make sure there aren't too many ingredients. You can check my post about the best non- dairy milks here.
Today I will be making plain almond milk with the Juico slower juicer which I was kindly sent for review by Thrive Magazine. Before we get to the actual recipe, let me tell you that I have never had such a creamy, thick and delicious milk before.
Juico is a slower juicer which means it crushes the almonds and squeezes the life out of them to produce delicious and nutritious almond milk. It takes literally 5 minutes (excluding soaking) to produce half of the pitcher and all you need is a cup of soaked almonds and water. Soaking the almonds is necessary for couple of reasons: First of all it makes the almonds softer and plumper, but secondly it activates them and brings out the full nutritional potential. The best way is to leave them soaking overnight, but if you are a cheat like me, 2 hours in boiled water will do too! Time is precious for us busy mums you know. Let’s get milking!

Disclaimer: I received Juico juicer for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for you my readers.
