I was thrilled when I got asked to be part of the Christmas Blog Crawl (no pub or bars involved, but I am sipping hot mulled wine while writing this). The Blog Crawl is basically a series of blog posts almost every other day featuring vegan, delicious and simple Christmas dishes which you lovely readers could easily recreate and include on your Christmas menu.
The first post done by Fab(yes that is actually her name) was released yesterday and you can find the recipe on her sassy blog. Today is my turn. I thought quite hard what to create and originally had cous cous planned, but made a last minute change to make something a bit different.
If you have been reading my blog for a while you might have noticed that I like raw food and raw treats in particular. So today I made for you Raw Chocolate Buckwheat Hearts. Give some "love" this Christmas. I find edible gifts so different, creative and full of personality and love. I actually gave some of my Christmas granola to a few friends and family members this year and so far the response has been very positive. This is such an easy, straightforward and inexpensive recipe/gift, so give it a go.
Ingredients:
½ cup buckwheat groats
¼ cup of raw cacao
1 cup of pitted dates
If you want it to make a bit more special add the following:
1 tablespoon of Maca powder ( perfect energy booster. I used the one from Beleaf in Nature)
1 tablespoon of vanilla coconut sugar (low GI and reduces blood sugar spikes compared to regular table sugar. I used the one from Atreea)
Method:
Start with lining a square dish with baking paper. Next, place all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until fully combined ensuring there are no date chunks or bits. Place the mixture in the baking dish and press down firmly using your hands. Pop in the fridge for an hour. Get a rolling pin and flatten the mixture out, before using a heart shape cutter to create small hearts and devour!
Don't forget to check Roasted Hazelnut with cacao nibs from Natural Kitchen Adventures and Superseed porridge with green cream from Green Spirit Adventures
Much love,
