Mango Banana Lassi is very refreshing, soothing, cooling, thick and creamy breakfast recipe. You only need 5 ingredients and a blender to make this quick and delicious breakfast. Naturally vegan and gluten-free.
What Is Mango Lassi?
I first heard of Lassi ( pronounced La'See ), an Indian yogurt drink, from my friend Lucy, who went to India backpacking few years and after her return was quite obsessed with lassi (think breakfast, lunch and even dinner sometimes).
Apparently in India you can buy it at a roadside cafe, in a restaurant and hotels, but people also make it at home, especially when it is a very hot summer day.
They drink it along with their spicy hot curries as it helps the body with digestion and to cool down. There is also salty Lassi which is made with cumin seeds, mint, ginger or even chilli and coriander.
The traditional process involves churning the yogurt with water and then removing the fat, but we are going to make a simple version by using your favourite white yogurt and a couple of other delicious ingredients.
What Does Mango Banana Lassi Taste Like?
This mango banana lassi tastes amazing. Really fresh, creamy and slightly piney thanks to the cardamon. The texture is a bit like a smoothie but thicker.
Ingredients for Mango Banana Lassi
This recipe makes 2 glasses, but it can easily be doubled if you have a larger group or want more.
- Mango - Frozen please to keep it deliciously creamy and refreshing
- Yoghurt - This one is down to you. I used Greek Soya, but coconut or almond are also fantastic options
- Cardamon Pods - You need the seeds only, so make sure the seeds are removed from the pods
- Banana - Nice and ripe, the riper the better
- Water - Cold to keep it fresh and clean

It's so easy, just follow these steps...
STEP 1: Put all the ingredients in a blender
STEP 2: Blend for 1 minute or until smooth
STEP 3: Divide between 2 glasses, top with extra mango and serve straight away
Tips for Making this Recipe
Making Tips - If your lassi seems too thick, add an additional ¼ cup of water. If it's too thin, add 1 tablespoon of yoghurt or few more pieces of frozen mango to thicken it.
Banana Alternative: If you don't like banana, add more frozen mango instead.
Special Ingredients - Cardamon pods can be found in any supermarket in the spice section.
Recommended Tools - You only need a good blender or a food processor
Storing Tips - You can store this recipe in the fridge for a day or so, but it tastes the best when served straight away.
