Low carb broccoli pizza
If cauliflower pizza doesn't tickle your fancy, give a go to my low carb broccoli pizza recipe instead! Easy, tasty and quick.
Ingredients
- 1 Broccoli head
- ½ cup ground almonds
- 2 eggs ( for a vegan version use chia egg or flax seed egg)
- Sprinkle of garlic powder or onion powder
- Salt and pepper
- Optional: ¼ cup shredded mozzarella or extra ground almonds if the dough is too watery
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees and line your baking tray with baking paper.
- Start by breaking or cutting the broccoli head
- Next grind up the broccoli in your food processor (squeeze water out if too wet) and then add in the eggs, ground almonds, garlic powder, freshly ground pepper, and salt.
- If you want to improve the flavour even more add some grated parmesan cheese.
- Once all is well combined, form the mixture into a pizza base shape on the prepared baking tray. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the edges are brown .
- Remove from the oven, and top with whatever toppings you'd like, then return to the oven for another 10 minutes and bake until melted , bubbly and yummy looking.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool down for a few minutes before cutting it up.
Just a few tips for the toppings. If you are bored of tomato sauce, put a layer of green or red pesto instead or mix a handful of cherry tomatoes with a handful of sun-dried tomatoes in a food processor and then spread on the crust.
Let me know what you think, and if you make it share a photo with me on my Facebook or Instagram, I would love to see it!

Hi Hedi,
What else could I use instead of ground Almonds? My youngest has a nut allergy.
Thanks! Kim

Hello Kim, how about seeds, can he/she have seeds? If so I would use shelled hemp seeds or any other ground seeds. You could even try mozzarella cheese 🙂 Hedi xxx

Thank you Hedi - I think we'll give mozzarella cheese a go! We do similar pizzas with cauliflower and add cheese to this. X
Renae
hello, just wondering if I can use halloumi cheese instead 🙂
Hedi Hearts
Hello Renae, I never tried, but I think it could work nicely! Hedi xxx
Lynn
Hello Hedi - I think I'll give this a try! How many servings does this recipe make?
Hedi Hearts
Helly Lynn, depends how big you want your slices, but I eat the whole pizza by myself ..opps...it is not that big and very light. Hedi xx

just wondering... If I were to make a few of the bases, would they keep in the fridge or freezer? Do they reheat well? I like to do food prep at the weekend so that I can just come home and pull out something from the fridge.
Hedi Hearts
I have never tried Janine. I think this could work as long as you squeeze all the water out of the broccoli to ensure the base is well stuck together. Hedi xx
